2011 - 12 Scholarships

All scholarships are now available online for your access! A brief description of the scholarship is listed; to print the application simply click on the scholarships' title. If you have any questions, please contact Rhonda at the High School (723 - 3350).

Unless noted the student is responsible for mailing the scholarship application.

     U.S. Bank Scholarship Program Scholarship - For high school seniors/college undergraduates who will be attending a U.S. Bank Student Loan eligible four-year college or university. Winners will be selected at random. For further details, please visit www.usbank.com/scholarshipAmount - 40 $1,000 Scholarships Application Timeline - October 2011 - March 2012

       Society of Black Hills Pioneer Scholarship - An original essay not less then 500 words or more than 1000 related to a local historical personality, group of people, a profile of an original ancestor or some significant historical event or development which has been an aspect of Black Hills history. See application for more criteria. Amount - Two $500 Scholarships Deadline -  March 23, 2012.

       Northern Hills Federal Credit Union Scholarship- Applicant must be a member in good standing of Northern Hills Federal Credit Union and enrolled in the CU Succeed Club. Must be a graduating senior and attending an accredited college, university or vocational/technical school. Amount - $500 Deadline - Postmarked on or before March 30, 2012.

       Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund (JMSMSF)- Available to seniors attending a 4-year university - see scholarship for requirements. Amount - $2,500 Deadline - Postmarked on or before March 31, 2012.

       Karst Memorial Scholarship - Available to students going into the Ag related field; must have two letters of reference. Deadline - Postmarked on or before March 31, 2012.

       Famers Union Insurance Scholarship - Seniors seeking funds to attend post-secondary education at a South Dakota college, university or technical school. Open to Farmers Union Members, Friends of SDFU Foundation or a Participant in any SDHSAA sanctioned activity. Must include listed items plus your "How do you hope to impact a Brighter Tomorrow in South Dakota?" essay. Amount - Twenty-five $1,000 Scholarships Deadline - Postmarked by April 15, 2012

       Assoc. General Contractors of South Dakota Scholarship - Available for graduating senior who is enrolled in a construction-related education program at a college/university or technical institute. Must be sponsored by an AGC Member. Deadline - May 2, 2012.

       BigSun Scholarship - All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. Visit website at www.bigsunathletics.com to apply. Amount - $500 Deadline - June 22, 2012

       Annis Irene Fowler/Kaden Scholarship - This scholarship provides funding to two (2) first time entering freshman at BHSU, DSU, NSU or USD and who will select elementary education as their major field. Please visit the listed universities for the application.

 

Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation Scholarships

(Applications available on the SF Community Foundation Website starting December 15th).

  • David L. Profilet Scholarship - available to SD high school seniors who plan to attend Augustana College in Sioux Falls. 3.0 GPA; demonstrate financial need and show character traits such as courage, determination and an ability to overcome adversity. Amount - $500 Deadline - April 1, 2012

  • Fool Soldier Scholarship - available to descendants of the Fool Soldiers. Eligible applicants must be able to prove their descendancy; have a GPA of 2.0 or higher; financial need and attend an accredited college, university or vocational/technical school Amount - $400 Deadline - March 15, 2012

  • Fred and Marie Christopherson Scholarship - available to seniors who plan to attend a four year college in SD; have a minimum GPA of 3.9 after seven semesters and a minimum ACT score of 28. Amount - $2,500 Deadline - March 15, 2012

  • Joe Foss "An American Hero" Scholarship - applicants must plan to attend  an accredited college or university or vocational or tech school; have a GPA of 3.5 or better and a minimum ACT score of 21 and demonstrate characteristics of an American patriot. Amount - $1,000 Deadline - March 15, 2012

  • Kimberly Rose Mean - Native American Council of Tribes Scholarship - Available to enrolled members of a SD American Tribe. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college of vocational school. Amount - $500 Deadline - March 15, 2012

  • Osmann Family Native American Scholarship - available to senior who are members of a Native American Tribe; plan to attend a college in SD; have a GPA or higher after 7 semesters of high school. Amount - $1,000 Deadline - March 15, 2012
