Welcome to the 2011- 12 School Year

Welcome back!

It seems like it has been awhile since we left school this spring. The custodial and buildings and grounds staff have been working hard cleaning all the buildings and keeping the grounds looking fantastic. Everything will be ready for a new school year. It will soon be time to open up books, get to know the teachers and meet new friends. The school year will be exciting.

We have upgraded or added new technology in many of the buildings while increasing network bandwidth capacity. Our computers will run faster with less down time. This will allow teachers and students to use more technology.

We are faced with some financial challenges as are all school districts in the State and Nation. The School Board, at a recent June board meeting, voted to opt out of the general fund levy limitation. The amount of the opt is $555,000 per year for three years. This opt out makes up for the revenue that was cut by the State in our per-pupil allocation. This additional revenue will allow our District to avoid drastic program cuts. As always, we will continue to be fiscally responsible and spend every penny as carefully as possible.

Things are as good or as bad as we think they are. I believe we have a bright future and we will have a great school year.

Thanks,

Steve Willard, Superintendent
