Dear Parents,
This is a survey concerning our Driver’s Education Program. We need to know if your child will be attending Driver’s Education. Classroom instruction takes 8 days from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 11:30 p.m. each day at the High School. We ask that you do not schedule any appointments or family vacations during these days. Mr. Tonsager will schedule the time for your child to take “behind the wheel” part of the course. The driving portion of the Drivers Education class will be scheduled to start driving shortly after our first class with times with the older students (or students with a learner’s permit) given the first opportunity to drive if they choose. Students may choose to not drive until later if they would like more time to practice with parents.
There is a non-refundable fee of $300 per student to enroll in the Driver’s Education Program. The $300 fee needs to be paid on the first day of Driver’s Education class, which is presently set for September 22, 2023, for the 1st session and January 12, 2024, for the 2nd session of Driver’s Education.
Please select which session would work for you. Please bring checks with the student on the first day of class. Make checks payable to Wayne Tonsager. If you would like, you may also pay via Venmo to @Wayne-Tonsager.
School computers will need to be brought in for the first class and the last class. On these dates we will set up our classwork, go over how to login, where to find the course, etc. then take the final the last class.
In the event a class is needed to be cancelled, students will be assigned material on Schoology and Edpuzzle. We will not make up these days in person. The State of SD requires a minimum of instructional hours to be met to pass Driver’s Education. If you miss more than 1 class, you will be required to come in during the next session to make up the hours. For those in the spring, this will be held during the next fall session.

Please keep this top portion for your records and send the bottom portion back to the school. It would be helpful to store these dates in your phone, so you don’t forget about them. I will add you to the Remind App to send notifications and reminders.
